Global Assurance Learning & Education has a secondment opportunity for a high performing experienced manager based in London for 25 months for the period 1 June 2018 – 30 June 2020.

Role description:

This is a unique opportunity for a high performing manager to work on innovative learning solutions to respond to network needs, gaining experience working on an international team and exposure to many parts of the network.

The successful candidate will work as part of the global team responsible for the design, development and evaluation of technical training in the global PwC Audit Curriculum for audit practitioners.

The main responsibilities of this role and the competencies required are described below.

Main responsibilities

As a Global Assurance L&E manager, the successful candidate’s responsibilities are to:

  • Provide the primary design input, and review content developed prior to technical sign off;

  • Project-manage the design and development process for classroom modules, eLearns, performance support tools, and evaluation tools;

  • Prepare for and contribute to stakeholder communications, including recommendations for change;

  • Create an update plan for owned modules based on feedback, annual strategic priorities and evaluation data;

  • Work with small project teams of practice staff on assignment to Global Assurance L&E.

  • Create and monitor project plans throughout the development and update process to manage risks, including the management of curriculum and team leadership as well as key stakeholders;

  • Draft timely internal and external communications to support the successful implementation of training materials in the network territories

  • Organise, manage and deliver pilots for new or significantly updated aspects of the curriculum and instructor training events;

  • Draft and update scripts covering technical audit content in an engaging and effective format for delivery in eLearn solutions.

  • Design assessments appropriate to test learners’ abilities subsequent to completion of training.


We are looking for a high performing experienced Manager (1 or 2 rated) with a passion for developing others, who is well rounded in all areas of the PwC Professional dimensions. They will have:


  • At least 5 years audit experience, with at least 1-2 years at the manager level, including either recent practice experience, or alternately recent experience creating training solutions for audit practitioners.

Business Acumen:

  • A strong understanding of the PwC business model and how we serve a variety of clients

Technical Capabilities:

  • Excellent written English and verbal communication skills

  • Previous experience in L&E instructing, training design and development and/or a strong interest in L&E/adult learning.

  • Desire to develop expertise in the area of learning design

Global Acumen:

  • Ability to work with multicultural teams and sensitivity to cultural implications in learning design and implementation.


  • Ability to develop relationships quickly

  • Ability to work effectively with a global team in a virtual environment.

  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills

Note: Less experience or less demonstrated ability in one or more of the above competencies can be compensated by particular strengths in other competencies. Each candidate will be reviewed in light of the combined competencies that they bring to the L&E team.

Work requirements:

The secondment opportunity will need to be supported by the candidate’s home territory.

The candidate will work as part of a globally dispersed team and:

  • Can expect to work from London, UK as part of the Global Assurance L&E Team on this secondment. Exceptions can be considered where there is a strong case for doing so.

  • Are expected to be deployed 100% to the secondment and not retain internal or client service responsibilities during the secondment.

  • Can anticipate global travel ranging in duration from two days to three weeks.

The degree of travel has some flexibility and can vary depending on the assigned project responsibilities and the individual’s personal circumstances.

Successful candidates can expect to gain:

  • A greater knowledge of the materials developed by Global Assurance L&E allowing them to support the appropriate coordination of local training plans in their home territory.

  • A "presence" in the L&E design and content of the training on which they have worked, carrying the needs of the practitioners and instructors in their territory.

  • An exposure to audit technical developments on a real time basis, and enhanced abilities in Aura and Audit Methodology which they can apply back in the practice.

  • An in-depth understanding of process and quality standards in L&E design and development, including evaluations and assessments

  • Significant opportunities to develop global acumen

  • Developing business acumen through insights into network strategic priorities, and how the network of forms operates

  • An insight into adult learning theory, transferrable to ongoing coaching interactions and classroom instruction.

  • Transferable client relationship skills developed by working virtually with various stakeholders and colleagues around the PwC network.

  • An increased network of contacts including L&E professionals, methodology professionals and peers in other territories.
