Bids, Pursuits and Proposals Senior Manager - Assurance - London
Who we are looking for
We are looking for an established, highly motivated and creative candidate to lead our Assurance Pursuit and Proposals (P&P) team. This is a senior position with team management responsibility and a highly networked role which will require the successful candidate to build and maintain wide ranging relationships across the assurance practice including senior leadership and at exec level.
You will be in a senior position within our P&P capability, which provides end to end proposals support including pre proposal advice through to professional proposal management and advice, expert proposal coaching, writing and design services, evaluation and reporting.
You will have experience and a passion for managing a team, developing talent, as well as creating and realising a strategy for enhancing the service we offer our internal clients.
About the role
In this role, the successful candidate will:
Lead an experienced, specialist assurance P&P team which includes managing the team’s workload, making judgement calls on what we can and cannot work on as a team through effective bid qualification, day to day team management and acting as counsel, advising junior team members as needed
Assign the correct team member resource to the right opportunity – considering complexity, skillset, client requirements and work load
Motivate and develop your team’s talent to improve their skillset, confidence and ultimately the quality of the service we provide our internal clients. This could be through one to one coaching of each team member through to holding workshops and training sessions
Set team member objectives, design and deliver bespoke personal development plans for each team member
Proactively review team resource and ensure coverage plans at all times (holiday periods, peaks periods etc)
Pipeline, reporting and stakeholder management
Stay close to the assurance pipeline, ensuring visibility and understanding of all the significant opportunities by regularly liaising with senior stakeholder across the assurance practice
Ensure up to date information on opportunities is tracked and logged on Salesforce
Produce or contribute toward pipeline reports for the firm’s senior leadership and assurance leadership
Ensure you stay close to all key stakeholders across the assurance practice so that we are always front of mind, we get early sight of opportunities and to maintain and raise the team’s profile
This is a highly networked role which will require the successful candidate to build and maintain wide ranging relationships across the assurance practice including senior leadership and at Exec level.
Always look at ways of improving our service offering as a P&P team and implement new initiatives
Be able to ‘take a step back’, spot opportunities for enhancing the way the assurance practice approaches winning work, translating opportunities and ideas in to a clear strategy. Providing a vision for both the assurance P&P team and the practice to buy-in to
Have the energy and drive to stay true to your vision, ensure the assurance practice buy-in to the value it could return and ensure initiatives are successfully delivered
Act as a P&P coach on our major opportunities, working with the lead partners and practice teams to support the process from start to finish. E.g. preparation pre-RFP, throughout the proposal process, at presentation stage (including one-on-one coaching) and post decision reviews.
Ensure all proposals have a win strategy clearly articulated in the documents and presentations
Work to embed Pursuit (our Sales methodology) across Assurance.
Proactively seek new tools and innovate to deliver proposals in different ways and in different circumstances.
Deliver training modules and practical workshops across assurance – often bespoke to individual practice team’s needs
Leverage knowledge and understanding of the Assurance propositions in proposal situations and bringing in other parts of our sales and marketing team (eg. design, marketing, BD, and social media) to improve our chances of winning
The ideal candidate will have:
Extensive experience in proposals management and coaching
Experience of leading and motivating proposal teams
Strong communication, coaching and influencing skills
A track record in setting and delivering against a strategy
Experience in developing win strategies that go beyond the document or presentation for proposals
An ability to ‘think like the client’ and challenge internal stakeholders
An ability to apply creative thinking to proposals and presentations
Experience of rehearsing senior stakeholders for client presentations
Experience and confidence to regularly liaise with senior stakeholder and exec leadership
Preferably professional services experience in a partnership environment
Experience of Salesforce is desirable
