Who we are looking for

At PwC, our Capital Project Services (CPS) team primarily consists of multi-disciplined Engineers and Architects with a wide range of capital projects and infrastructure related backgrounds who have joined us from industry.

Any business that embarks on a programme of capital investment faces new risks that can impact both the capital investment and the wider organisation and that's where we come in. Our CPS team advises clients on the business issues relating to the delivery of capital projects, including dispute resolution, delay analysis, project reviews, organisational design, project controls and project and programme management.

The role requires significant flexibility & mobility, with national & international travel often required.

You’ll have a background in project management covering the technical, financial and commercial aspects of contracts and a bachelor degree in Architecture. You’ll also have experience in the design or implementation of large, complex projects.

As well as good practical work experience, ideally gained within a large contractor, consultancy or client organisation, you’ll have working knowledge/experience of:

  • Consulting with clients in a capital projects environment

  • Project management experience

  • Construction methods/techniques

  • Design management and co-ordination

  • Estimating and financial management (preparing cost and value reports, cost forecasts, etc)

  • Contractual arrangements, specifically in implementation of NEC type of contracts

  • Approaches for the valuation and assessment of claims

  • Experience of using critical path planning software (Primavera P6 or MS Project)

  • Data analytics and capital planning techniques; developing, reviewing and challenging capital plans and associated scenarios

  • Excellent IT skills

Additional experience which would be very relevant includes:

  • Certified Project Manager (PMP) by the Project Management Institute

  • Significant capital projects experience, in transport and energy sectors

  • Track record of development and implementation of integrated project controls systems and processes across infrastructure projects

  • Experience in delivering international projects in Africa, Turkey, Russia and Turkmenistan

  • Advising clients on risks relating to capital projects

  • Providing assurance to stakeholders on capital projects

  • Asset Management in Power, Utilities and Transport or other relevant industry sectors

  • If you’re successful you’ll work in multi-disciplinary teams undertaking client work which includes for example:

  • Managing and delivering assignments

  • Working as part of a team or independently depending on the size of the assignment

  • Developing client relationships

  • Face-to-face contact with clients and their professional advisors

The role will require extensive travel and the ability to be flexible and mobile on both national and international assignments and we will require London to be your home location.
