Our Capability & Development Team, through the Operate and Augment Academy, is responsible for ensuring that our 700+ strong workforce has the skills and knowledge to deliver excellence to our clients through enhanced operational efficiency and quality. Additionally, building sustainable skills and developing talent that supports career progression is a key priority for our business.

The Capability & Development (C&D) Lead will be required to:
  • Lead and manage the capability and development team to deliver the Augment & Operate Academy’s 2018 strategy
  • Translate Augment & Operate’s strategic priorities into effective Capability & Development interventions that are delivered in the appropriate timeframe
  • Engage, communicate with and influence senior stakeholders from across the Augment and Operate Business and the wider PwC network
  • Work with new and existing clients in co-authoring technical training programmes that build the specific skills they need to deliver their programmes
  • Balance the requirements of a number of stakeholders from diverse business pillars to deliver consistent solutions that support business growth and career development
  • Maintain and build relationships with internal and external strategic partners and suppliers
  • Utilise existing firm-wide or regional frameworks, services and experience to deliver efficient and consistent solutions

In addition they will be expected to:

  • Contribute to various strategic initiatives with the wider leadership team to drive sustainable business growth
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of initiatives outside of the Capability & Development Agenda that drive sustainable business growth
  • Build credibility with prospective clients through direct involvement in business development activity
  • Manage budget, interpret Management Information (MI) and manage risks in conjunction with Operations leaders
Key experience, capabilities and skills required
  • Demonstrable ability to build and maintain strong relationships, and engage with key stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Credibility to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • An understanding of the entire L&D cycle that supports career development at PwC
  • Excellent communication, co-ordination and consulting skills
  • Agility to react to last minute and urgent requests and to balance conflicting priorities
  • The ability to drive high performance in own team and wider operational teams
  • A goal orientated attitude and an ability to maintain focus on agreed objectives and deliverables, particularly when dealing with ambiguity and conflicting priorities
  • The ability to work across the PwC network, partnering with others and working collaboratively to leverage support and resources as required
  • Thorough knowledge of theory and best practice in L&D and talent management practices
  • Innovative and creative approach to new challenges and existing practices
Essential criteria:

Demonstrable experience in

  • The design and implementation of an L&D strategy in professional practice or in a commercial organisation of similar scale, growth and diversity
  • The design, development and delivery of technical and soft skills
  • The provision of Professional Qualifications across multiple disciplines

Preferable but not essential criteria:

  • A Financial Services background
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • CIPD qualified preferably with specialism in Training and Development

This role is a maternity cover for an initial 8 month fixed-term contract, but with the opportunity for extension or permanency depending on business needs.

The role will be based in Belfast, however as a result of the wide variety of clients and projects, you may be asked to work in other locations within the UK and beyond, sometimes at short notice and sometimes over lengthy periods of time. Your desire and ability to do this will be discussed as part of the recruitment process. Candidates who are unable or do not wish to work on projects in other locations will still be considered.
