Who we’re looking for

We are looking for a driven and engaging individual who is passionate about helping our client teams win in the market. The focus of this role will be driving development of market-leading propositions and coaching teams at all stages of the pursuit cycle.

The ideal candidate will have the confidence to advise, challenge and draw on their commercial outlook and previous experience to drive Business Development activity across the UK Forensics practice.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual who wants to be a part of a growing sales and marketing team to work closely with Forensics leadership to build revenue opportunities across the practice.

About the team

Our Forensics Sales and Marketing Team (SMT) are sales and marketing specialists working across the UK, who help client teams to win work from first engagement, through the proposal and pitch process, to closing the deal.

As a Business Development Manager your focus will be on ensuring that the right strategy is put in place to develop effective market propositions as well as help teams to execute their pursuit in the most efficient and effective way.

This role will report into the Head of Forensics and BRS Sales and Marketing.

What you’ll be doing

No two days will be the same in this role. You could be coaching a team through a tender, introducing new technologies and ideas to pursuits, running an account planning workshop or developing new propositions in conjunction with the Forensics Origination Unit.

You will be leaned on and turned to for support and advice for all stages of Pursuit. Relationships are key in this role and managing and building on them across such a large stakeholder group will be an important success factor.

Your responsibilities
  • Provides expert advice to key stakeholders on proposition development including the best approach, content and channel mix. Is accountable for ensuring that quality and brand standards are exceeded.

  • Ensures that new proposition ideas and content are in line with buyer needs, co-ordinated across the business and converted to opportunities for value conversations, to strengthen relationships and deliver growth. Brings the client perspective and delivers the best of PwC to our key audiences, working closely with the Forensics Origination Unit.

  • Proactively identifies new areas for propositions, using strong relationships across the practice to “join the dots” to create bigger, more impactful, One Forensics propositions.

  • Defines short and long-term ROI measures and takes responsibility for delivery and evaluation of ROI on own proposition campaigns and activity.

  • Provides end-to-end coaching throughout a proposal life cycle, including proposal presentation coaching and obtaining independent client feedback.

  • Provides innovative and creative best practice input, builds on and delivers good ideas and contributes to the Pursuit and Proposals capability within SMT, as well as the Deals SMT.

  • Ensures that campaigns and activity are continuously improved and experience, information and knowledge are shared, linking effectively with Forensics marketing activity.

  • Identifies, designs and delivers tailored BD training modules, working closely with stakeholders to understand where training may be required.

  • Attends and leads Account Planning Workshops (APWs) for Forensics priority accounts.

  • Works effectively with other parts of SMT - especially Strategic Account Management, Client Relationship Programmes and the firm’s Growth Priority Campaigns.

  • Ensures that campaigns and activity are continuously improved and experience, information and knowledge are shared, linking effectively with Forensics marketing activity.

  • Manages Forensics staff who are also assigned to deliver proposition elements.

  • Supports the Forensics SMT team leader to establish a best in class Forensics sales and marketing team.

Your skills

You’ll have excellent project management and coaching skills, be curious, think commercially and see the bigger picture. You’ll need to be able and confident to provide your views and challenge and support teams in a constructive manner and build on relationships across the UK.

A track record in bringing new and creative ideas across both business development and marketing activities within a professional services (or similar) environment is vital.

Requirements
  • An expert understanding of targeting and opportunity management with the ability to implement both strategic and tactical initiatives.

  • Creative and innovative approach, with evidence of using this to develop new propositions within a professional services role or similar environment.

  • Experienced individual of graduate calibre with strong experience in business development and proposal coaching.

  • Self-starter but able to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Excellent project management skills.

  • Experience of managing diverse senior stakeholder groups.

  • Proactive with a positive ‘can do’ approach.

  • Emotional intelligence and an ability to flex style to the situation.

  • A sound business understanding as well as being commercially and risk aware.

  • Strong knowledge of relationship/sales methodology and proven experience in driving opportunities through to revenue.
