Who we are looking for:

PwC is looking for an experienced and curious data specialist to join the Insights & Analytics Team at Manager level. The role will support all our lines of service by implementing efficient and effective new ways to gain insight through interrogating internal and external data.

The primary focus for this role is to aid the firm's Marketing function by building repeatable and scalable process that will deliver customer segmentation strategies by developing a cutting edge analytic solution as well as drawing real insight in a changing business environment.

Experience of carrying out data analytics in a business environment is required, so the key skills required are:

  • The ability to join, manipulate and draw actionable insights from large data sources ideally through data a preparation tool such as: Alteryx, and one of the R, Python and SQL languages

  • Applying appropriate external data sources to provide meaningful insights

  • Strong understanding of the application of statistical methods such as linear regression, multiple linear regression and logistic regression etc

  • Understanding of applied business analytic techniques including clustering and segmentation of existing clients, predictive modelling and whitespace and market penetration methodologies

  • Use analytical, hypothesis-driven thinking to form and shape solutions to problems

  • Experience of feedback loops to drive decision automation

  • Strong desk-research skills

  • Experience of building data visualisations through Tableau or other visualisation software such as Qlikview, Power BI etc

  • Proactively develop learning strategies to help teammates learn how to provide best in class analytics offerings

  • Further the successful candidate will need to interact confidently with staff from other teams at a range of grades in order to explain their findings as well as meet with stakeholders to discuss their work requirements

The role will report to the head of Whitespace & Market Success which is one of the three sub-teams within the Insight & Analytics team.

About the role:

SMT is a centralised marketing and sales function and covers all aspects of professional services marketing, sales support and business development. The prime area of focus for the function is to support the development and implementation of the firm’s market strategy and in particular to deliver:

  • Revenue growth

  • Enhanced relationships and networks

  • A distinctive brand experience

The PwC strategy is designed to provide a sharper focus on market issues in order to prioritise growth opportunities and align our resources to deliver them. Our plan is to obtain transformational growth of our consulting market share and to extend our lead in our core businesses of audit, tax, business recovery services and transactions.

Insight & Analytics is part of the Sales & Marketing Team centralised support function and covers all aspects of marketing, sales support and business development.

This is a new role, as there is a need to grow the team to meet increasing internal data analytics demand from the UK firm.

In this role, the successful candidate:

  • Provides advice on how client staff can undertake maximise their own understanding of analytic techniques and how this can aid understanding of their business area

  • Proactively evaluates new analytical methodologies and formulates new offerings

  • Draw insights using internal and external data, both qualitative and quantitative

  • Works effectively in a matrix organisation

  • Strategic thinker who can work across all levels of an organisation, but can demonstrate practicality, commerciality and client focus

  • Brings curiosity and challenge so that insight and analytics offerings are continuously improved

Essential skills:
  • The ability to think strategically about business and industry trends and use analytical, problem-solving techniques to break down issues into the ‘so what’

  • Use and application of different data sources

  • Design process automation and optimisation

  • Use test and learn processes and statistical techniques to develop and optimise forecasting

  • Able to demonstrate extensive experience using analytic tools

  • Ability to join and maintain complex data sets from multiple sources

  • Able to balance and prioritise multiple requests from staff at all levels, alongside own administrative and team responsibilities

  • A strong working knowledge of at least one programming language from R, Python or SQL

  • Experience of building data visualisations for multiple audiences

  • A firm finger on the pulse of current data analytics technologies

  • Experience of training staff on how to use analytic techniques

  • Able to work as part of a team, but also on own initiative and without direct supervision

  • Clear, articulate and confident written and verbal communication skills

Desirable skills:
  • MA in Data Science or Statistics

  • Some experience of applied time series econometrics

  • Effective networking and marketing skills
