Job description

About the team

The Pursuit and Proposals team are sales specialists working across the UK, who support client teams from first engagement, through the proposal and pitch process, to closing the deal. As a pursuit and proposals manager your focus will be on ensuring that the right strategy is put in place for the opportunity and helping teams execute the pursuit in the most efficient and effective way.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for a hungry, driven and engaging individual who is passionate about helping our teams navigate the pursuit cycle. The ideal candidate will have the confidence to advise, challenge thinking and draw on their commercial outlook to contribute towards win strategies. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual who wants to be a part of a maturing proposals infrastructure in our Assurance team and work alongside a range of stakeholders across industries.

What you’ll be doing

No two days and no two pursuits are the same. There’s lots of variety. You could be coaching a team through a FTSE 100 audit tender, introducing new technologies and ideas to our internal audit team pursuits or working with global network firms on an international financial services cyber bid. Regardless of the project you will be at the heart of some of the most important pursuits across the Firm.

You will be leaned on and turned to for support and advice for all stages of Pursuit and will be expected to collaborate with other members of the assurance pursuits team to ensure a fair distribution of workload. Relationships are key and managing and building on them across such a large stakeholder group may be one of your biggest challenges.

Your responsibilities
  • Providing end-to-end support throughout a proposal life cycle, including proposal management and advice, presentation coaching and obtaining client feedback

  • Working with stakeholders across assurance and industries to align support to priority areas and drive proposal best practice, whether that’s through training, reporting on key trends or other means.

  • Helping draft proposal documents and collateral, including cover letters, executive summaries, team and CV information, and firm experience

  • Proactive innovation and creativity to deliver proposals in different ways

  • Reviewing and amending proposal document and collateral

  • Working alongside proposal drivers to help shape the pursuit plan and provide insight into best practice (i.e. colour reviews)

  • Responding promptly to proposals content queries and build networks of SMEs across assurance and the Firm

  • Delivering tailored training modules and work closely with stakeholders to understand where training may be required.

  • Conducting client feedback and post decision reviews

Your skills

You’ll have excellent project management and coaching skills and an ability to think commercially and see the bigger picture. You’ll need to be able and confident to provide your views and challenge and support teams in a constructive manner and build on relationships across the region. You’ll need patience and to be flexible, to understand that with such a broad geography and group of stakeholders there is no one right way.

It would be great if you have experience of working in professional services and pursuits, although not essential.

  • Experienced, self-motivated individual of graduate calibre with a proven track record in delivering proposal management and bid advice for high value proposals.

  • Experience of proposal coaching, advising and proposals support with the ability to implement both strategic and tactical initiatives.

  • Self starter able to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Creative and innovative approach.

  • Excellent proven project management skills.

  • Experience of managing diverse senior stakeholder groups.

  • Proactive with a positive ‘can do’ approach.

  • Emotional intelligence and an ability to flex style to the situation.
