We're a fast growing business unit with a unique assurance division offering a broad range of services, including Audit, Risk Assurance and Transaction Services (TS), which are tailored to help mid-sized and entrepreneurial clients, grow and overcome the complex challenges they face. Our client base varies from FTSE listed, AIM listed, Private companies to Private Equity and Venture Capitalist backed companies.

We take pride in helping clients to identify, measure and manage their risk profile more effectively. Our specialists offer knowledge and expertise, which extends to clients’ internal controls (including IT systems), technology, non-financial reporting, corporate sustainability and regulatory compliance.

In addition to supporting the external financial audit, we also provide a variety of internal audit and advisory services. Our capabilities support a wide range of businesses and industry sectors, on each and every project we undertake the advice and assurance we deliver is tailored and focused on the individual needs of that client.

About The Role

This role will involve a split in workload across the propositions in LRA’s Risk Assurance practice depending on business demand, your experience and expertise.

You will typically work with a variety of propositions, internal audit and non-audit clients, across multiple industry sectors, performing internal audit and performance assurance reviews, controls assurance in support of external audits or advisory engagements.

In particular you will be expected to operate with a varied portfolio and be agile and open minded to working across the following

PwC proposition areas:

  • Controls Assurance and Controls Advisory – providing business process controls, data and IT general control support for our external audit clients together with advising our non-audit clients on internal control improvements measured against a controls framework

  • Internal Audit – undertaking internal audit fieldwork across a range of financial and operational areas under our various outsourced / co-sourced engagements and reviewing the effectiveness of internal audit functions

  • Commercial Assurance and Business Resilience – helping a range of clients manage risk and monetise opportunities within complex third party relationships achieved by applying the rigour and discipline of assurance through a commercial lens focussing on customer, partner and supplier relationships

  • Performance Assurance – helping our clients build trust and confidence in their key non-financial performance information and the processes supporting them whether for internal or external use.

  • You will receive appropriate training for the engagements that you will undertake, together with a sufficient level of support on engagements, although it is anticipated that you will also be in a position to coach junior team members in these areas. It is accepted that some of the Risk Assurance propositions may be new to candidates and some coaching will therefore be required.

We're looking for motivated individuals who will relish the opportunity to work in a growing team, with a portfolio of varied assignments and with significant possibilities to progress within the firm.
  • Candidates should have experience of at least one of the following: Internal Audit, Controls Assurance, Controls Advisory / Business Resilience or Performance Assurance

  • Experience in evaluating and performing risk assessments at a task and organisation level

  • General understanding around a risk framework and controls implementation

  • A methodical approach to problem-solving and delivery of client solutions

  • Awareness and experience of risk-based control identification and assessment methodologies, e.g. as part of an audit or process review

  • Commercial acumen with strong analytical, logic and problem solving skills

  • Good project management and organisational abilities

  • Focused and initiative driven (required to maximise growth potential) with an ability to build strong relationships with clients and with PwC teams

  • Able to work autonomously without the need for day to day direct management

  • The confidence to challenge the status quo and desire for continuous improvement

  • Possession of strong team working skills

  • Well-developed listening and questioning techniques

  • Technically strong & numerate with a commercial focus on engagements

  • Excellent verbal skills and report writing capability

  • A desire to further your career and personal development

  • A flexible approach and passion for client service


  • An ACA/ACCA qualification or equivalent

  • IFRS, UK GAAP, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) experience

  • A working knowledge of business development activity.
